On Parole is a short film that encompasses both honest issues and an honest sense of humor. The story follows Charlie, a young man who was just freed from prison. In the few weeks after his parole, he finds it difficult to re-adjust to society; the aspect he finds most difficult is dating and finding a girlfriend who will accept the fact that he spent a decade in federal prison.

With no role models, Charlie turns to his impatient parole officer Sheila, who’d rather just take care of business then hear about Charlie’s problems. He does, however, manage to squeeze motherly help out of her from time to time, riding on only her support and his own innocence.

After horrible let downs and countless hilarious dating situations, Charlie finds Amy, a down to earth coworker who just might be the one to accept him. With Sheila’s help, Charlie carefully allows their relationship to grow without Amy knowing about Charlie’s past, until the moment when he finally must reveal his secret.

On Parole is currently in post-production through beast Films, a non-profit student-run production company. The film’s stars includes some of New York’s best performers, as well as TJ Miller, star of ABC’s Carpoolers and Cloverfield, a new film produced by JJ Abrams, creator of Lost. Post-production began in April, 2008.
